Hey all ! I am back with another baking recipe :-)
I recently baked these cookies for my friend's
dinner party & it came out pretty good.. It tastes
like butter biscuits that we used to buy for 50 paise
or so when we were kids :-)
BUTTER COOKIES / BUTTER BISCUITS RECIPE:
Recipe cuisine:
Indian / Recipe category: Snack
Prep time: 1 hr 30 mins / cook time: 20 mins
FOR THE DOUGH:
All purpose flour / Maida : 1 cup
Powdered sugar : 1/4 cup
Unsalted butter : 1/2 cup
Salt : 1/4 tsp
Vanilla essence : 1/2 tsp
METHOD:
Butter should be in room temperature.
Pls do not melt it. Beat the butter till it
becomes fluffy. Add sugar & vanilla
essence & beat again.
At this stage add liquid color (optional)
& beat again till fluffy.
Now mix flour & salt to the beaten butter.
Knead dough & if it is sticky add 1 tsp /
2 tsp of flour.
Roll it about 1/4 inch thick & wrap it
with clear wrap. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
After an hour it will be stiff. Now using
cookie cutter make desired shapes :-)
Arrange in baking tray & refrigerate for
another 30 mins. Preheat oven 325 F or
160 deg C. Bake for 16 - 20 mins or till
the sides change color. Check around
15 mins as oven power may vary..
Enjoy crispy & light butter cookies :-)
NOTE:
* It is important to refrigerate the dough twice.
* Do not let the dough outside for long
as it will become sticky.
* If the dough becomes sticky, refrigerate
it again.
*If you have left over dough refrigerate
& reuse it.
* After baking, once the sides change color
pls take it out & do not over bake it. The
center portion might be soft & will become
firm after cooling down.
* If you are using salted butter, pls do
not add salt.
